Dual Concept: Bio-Systems Informatics

Starting on the 1^st of October 2009 Across Barriers GmbH in cooperation with the University of Cooperative Education in Lörrach, Germany (DHBW Lörrach) is offering for the first time future students the possibility to perform their studies at Across Barriers GmbH. This new dual program Bio-Systems Informatics will lead after 3 years to the internationally accepted Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). The program gives students a wide range of insights in the essentials of working in biological and chemical research facilities, in addition to sound IT expertise, especially in software engineering and technical quality management.

Across Barriers GmbH is looking for high-school seniors (with university entry qualification) interested in combining IT and life sciences to become IT specialists with a background in natural sciences, who can thus best provide an interface to the life sciences.

The dual concept offers the opportunity to transfer the theoretical contents obtained at the University to the practical work in the company and to optimize the practical skills. During the practical phases students will get to know different departments of Across Barriers GmbH and will take part in various projects.

Requirements are the university entry qualification with very good results in the subjects mathematics, chemistry, biology and informatics, as well as good skills in English language. Skills in programming are advantageous.
